Welcome to the whimsical little world of The Gnat!
Here are answers to some of the questions I get most often. If you’re still wondering about something, just holler. I’m always happy to help.
THE CARDS
Are your cards really hand-painted?
Yep! Every Gnat begins as a hand-painted watercolor illustration by me, Natalie. The original artwork is then lovingly turned into cards, prints, and other happy little things.
So while the card in your hands isn’t the original painting, there’s a real little piece of Gnat-made art behind it.
What size are your greeting cards?
Most Gnat greeting cards are A6 — 4.5" x 6.25" folded.
They’re blank inside, because I figure you’re the one who should get to tell the story.
What comes with a greeting card?
Each card comes with an envelope and is tucked into a clear protective sleeve, ready for gifting, mailing, or sitting on your desk for a while because you just like looking at it.
No judgment here.
What are Teeny Cards?
Tiny cards. Big personality.
Teeny Cards are little 3" x 3" cards made for tucking into gifts, lunch bags, bouquets, pockets, packages, or anywhere else that could use a tiny dose of Gnat.
Some things are small for a reason.
Can I mail a Teeny Card?
The teeny envelopes are adorable—but some are simply too teeny for regular mailing.
They’re best for hand-delivering, gift-tucking, or adding to something you’re already sending.
THE ART
Are your prints made from original paintings?
They sure are. Gnat prints are made from my original watercolor artwork and printed as high-quality art prints.
And here's a little secret: if there’s a Gnat painting you love that isn’t currently offered as a print, ask me! Many of my paintings can be turned into prints.
Do you sell original artwork?
Sometimes! Original watercolor paintings make their way into the shop from time to time.
They’re one-of-a-kind little creatures, so once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Can I get a custom print?
Possibly! If there’s a particular Gnat illustration you have your heart set on, send me a note and I’ll let you know what I can do.
YOUR ORDER
Can I change or cancel my order?
I’ll always do my best to help, but once an order has been packed or shipped, it may be too late for me to catch it.
If you need to make a change, please reach out as soon as possible.
The sooner I know, the better chance I have of catching that little package before it flies away.
Can I send a Gnat directly to someone else?
Absolutely!
Just enter their shipping address at checkout. If you’d like to include a little note with your gift, send me a message and I’ll do my best to make it extra sweet.
SHIPPING
Where does my Gnat come from?
The Gnat is proudly made and packed in the USA, with my studio right here in Wisconsin.
How quickly will my order ship?
I’m a very small business, which means your order is packed with actual human hands—not a giant warehouse robot.
I generally aim to get orders out within a few business days. During especially busy times (hello, holiday season!), things may take a little longer.
Your patience means the world to this tiny operation.
Do you ship internationally?
International shipping availability can vary depending on the destination and the item. If you’re outside the U.S. and have your heart set on some Gnat, send me a note and I’ll see what I can do!
My tracking says “delivered,” but I can’t find my package. What should I do?
First: take a little peek around. Packages have a funny habit of hiding in strange places.
Check your porch, side door, mailbox, garage, and with neighbors. If it’s still nowhere to be found, get in touch and I’ll help you figure out the next step.
RETURNS + HAPPY CUSTOMERS
What is your return policy?
Because The Gnat is a very small, independent art business, all sales are final and I’m unable to offer refunds or exchanges.
But if something goes wrong with your order, please don’t disappear into the woods just yet. I really do want you to be happy with your Gnat.
If your order arrives damaged, is missing something, or you receive the wrong item, please reach out as soon as possible with a photo and a little note about what happened. If it was a Gnat mix-up or something went wonky along the way, I’ll do my very best to make it right — whether that means sending a replacement or offering a refund.
My order arrived damaged. What should I do?
Oh no!
Please send me a photo of the damaged item and your order information as soon as you can. I’ll take a look and figure out the best way to make it right.
Sometimes packages have adventures of their own. We’ll deal with it together.
I received the wrong item. Help!
Human error happens — even in a one-Gnat operation.
If I sent you the wrong thing, please get in touch and I’ll make it right.

Do you sell Gnat cards wholesale?
Yes!
The Gnat can be found in wonderful little shops around the country, and I’d love to see the artwork find its way to more good homes.
Wholesale offerings are available through Faire, or you can reach out directly if you’re interested in carrying The Gnat.
Can I sell Gnat artwork in my shop?
If you’re interested in carrying The Gnat, licensing artwork, or collaborating on something wonderfully whimsical, send me a note.

ARTWORK + COPYRIGHT
Can I use a Gnat illustration for my business, event, product, or social media?
The short answer: please ask first!
Every Gnat illustration is original artwork and is protected by copyright. That means you can absolutely share the love, but please don’t reproduce, trace, alter, print, sell, or use Gnat artwork commercially without permission.
Want to use something for a project? Ask me! Licensing and collaborations are possible, and I’m always interested in hearing what you have in mind.
Can I share Gnat artwork on social media?
Please do!
I love when the Gnat gets to travel around the internet. Just make sure the artwork stays credited to The Gnat / Natalie Sorrentino and isn’t altered or presented as someone else’s work.

Who is The Gnat?
The Gnat is me—Natalie.
I’m an illustrator, watercolor painter, art therapist and lifelong collector of tiny bits of wonder.
I started making art as a kid, back when pictures could say things that words couldn’t. These days, I make paintings, cards, prints, and other little pieces of sendable art with the hope that they’ll help people feel something: joy, comfort, connection, nostalgia—or maybe just a really good little smile.
Why “The Gnat”?
Ahhh. The million-dollar question.
The Gnat is a tiny creature with a surprisingly big presence. It felt like the right name for artwork that is small, spirited, a little quirky, and determined to make itself noticed.
And honestly?
It just felt like me.
What does “Sendable Art” mean?
It means art doesn’t have to stay on a wall.
Sometimes a little painting belongs in the mail.
Sometimes it belongs in a birthday card.
Sometimes it belongs tucked into a gift, sitting on a desk, or making somebody smile on an ordinary Tuesday.
The Gnat makes art for sending.
Because a little beauty is better when it gets passed around.
